Back Shadab Khan responds to the 'Kohli will take care of Pakistan pacers' Agarkar jibe after becoming the victim of a social media slip-up

Cricket fans are excited to see how India's ace batter Virat Kohli will respond to the Pakistani bowling assault as the fever of the India versus Pakistan match at the Asia Cup 2023 picks up steam.

Given his performance against the team's bitter rivals, Kohli performs even better while against opponents like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. It was witnessed during a spectacular performance at the T20 World Cup last year in Melbourne. So, on September 2 at Kandy's Pallekele International Stadium for the Asia Cup, all eyes will be on Kohli as he takes on the Pakistani pacers.

India's 17-man team for the Asia Cup, along with a traveling reserve in Sanju Samson, was revealed by the newly appointed BCCI head of selectors Ajit Agarkar last Monday in the presence of India captain Rohit Sharma.

On social media, as bits and pieces of the news conference were uploaded, some users highlighted a segment that didn't happen. It was similar to Agarkar's response when asked how India intended to deal with Pakistani speedsters like Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and others: "Kohli will take care of them."

But in fact, no one even asked such a question.

Pakistan's Shadab Khan, who also fell victim to the error, expressed his displeasure with the assertion. When questioned about the assertion following a 59-run victory over Afghanistan in the third ODI in Colombo, Pakistan's Shabad responded that only the matchday will reveal the truth.

It probably depends on a specific day. Now, I or someone from India might assert anything, but those are merely words. Anything somebody says has no bearing on or effect on anything else. We may observe what transpires after the game, he said, according to the Hindustan Times.

Since 2019, India's Virat Kohli has only played against Pakistan in T20I matches. Against pacers like Naseem Shah, Shaheen, Rauf, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Hasnain, and Shahnawaz Dahani, Kohli made 158 runs in 110 balls. After hitting fifty runs, Kohli has only ever been bowled out once—by Shaheen during the 2021 T20 World Cup.
